When I learned of the news today from Twitter, it brought me back to the summer, when I saw Lt. Dan Choi speak at a rally. I realized then, from the passion with which he spoke, that this issue was his life. The way DADT was framed as a “policy” or even referring to it as an issue, seemed so utterly wrong in the presence of a man who was living the consequences of blatant discrimination.
